Witcher 4 – 2027 Window With a CDPR Engine Reset
CDPR finally dropped concrete details on Project Polaris, now confirmed as The Witcher 4.
Ciri leads, the engine is Unreal 5 (CDPR’s shift away from RED Engine is now permanent), 480 developers are working full-time, and the launch window is 2027.
The detail nobody is talking about
CDPR is shipping a day-one Linux build optimized for Steam Deck. That is a meaningful commitment to PC-first parity – and a quiet endorsement of the Deck as a viable platform for AAA.
The EsportForge read: this is the most ambitious Witcher game in scope and the riskiest from an engine-transition standpoint. UE5 stutter at launch will be a known story to manage.
