EigenLayer Withdrawal Update – At a Cost

EigenLayer’s long-awaited withdrawal update shipped this week – and finally lets restakers exit, at a cost.

The new version implements a 21-day withdrawal queue, slashing-conditional, with an opt-in fast-exit at a fee. The UX is clean and the audit trail is solid. The catch: AVS-driven slashing rules are now live across the network, and operator selection actually matters in a way it did not before.

What changes for restakers

Yields will compress as withdrawals open and capital rotates. Real APY (after slashing risk and fees) sits in the 2.8-3.6% range – meaningful but no longer headline-worthy. The interesting move is operator selection: the spread between top and bottom operators is wider than the headline AVS yield differential.

EsportForge’s view: restaking matures into a real yield product, not a points farm. That is healthy.
