TSMC’s Arizona Fab 2 Hits Volume
TSMC’s Phoenix Fab 2 is officially in volume production. The first 4nm wafers shipped to Apple, AMD and Nvidia this quarter.
The fab is running at ~80% of design capacity in its first quarter of volume – a remarkable ramp by industry standards. Yields are reportedly within 2 percentage points of the equivalent Taiwan node, faster than analyst expectations.
Who is taking the wafers
Apple is the largest customer, with a multi-year wafer commitment that essentially anchored the Fab 2 economics. AMD is using Phoenix capacity for select MI-series products. Nvidia’s share is smaller but growing.
The EsportForge read: this is the first credible US-based leading-edge production at scale. The supply chain story for high-end GPUs and AI chips has just gotten meaningfully more resilient.
